GDG Belgium vzw ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how we handle it, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who we are
GDG Belgium vzw is a student-led, independent chapter of Google's Google Developer Groups on Campus program, based at Vlamingenstraat 24, 3000 Leuven, Belgium. We are not a registered company; we are a student community.

2. What data we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
Mailing list: name and email address, when you sign up voluntarily.
Event RSVPs: name, email, and sometimes university affiliation or dietary preferences, when you register for an event.
Partner/contact form: name, organization, email, and any message content you submit.
Website analytics (if applicable): anonymized or aggregated usage data such as page visits, via [insert tool, e.g. Framer Analytics / Google Analytics], if enabled.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data (e.g. health, religion, political views) beyond what you voluntarily share (such as dietary requirements for catering purposes).
3. Why we collect it (legal basis)
We process your data based on:
Consent — for mailing list sign-ups and event registrations (you can withdraw consent at any time).
Legitimate interest — for responding to partnership inquiries and organizing events you've registered for.
4. How we use your data
Sending event updates, partner news, and occasional tech tips (only if you've joined the mailing list).
Managing event registration and logistics (e.g. attendee lists, catering counts).
Responding to partnership or general inquiries.
We do not sell your data to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising purposes.
5. Who we share it with
We may share data with:
Service providers we use to operate Google Forms, Beehiiv, solely to provide their service to us.
KU Leuven, only if required for venue bookings or official university event approval.
We do not share your data with Google as a corporation beyond what is inherent in using Google's own public tools (e.g. if you sign up via a Google Form).
6. How long we keep your data
Mailing list data: until you unsubscribe.
Event RSVP data: typically deleted or anonymized within 12 months after the event, unless needed for record-keeping (e.g. attendance for university reporting).
Partner inquiries: kept as long as the relationship is active or relevant.

Under GDPR, you have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Withdraw consent at any time
